Madrid Must Focus On Derby Now Says Arbeloa

Alvaro Arbeloa has urged his Real Madrid teammates to move on quickly from their draw with Valencia and focus Wednesday’s derby against Atletico.

Real’s lead over Barcelona on the La Liga table has shrunk to four points following this weekend’s results, and Arbeloa has stressed that Madrid have to return to winning ways to maintain their title push, starting against their city rivals this week.

“We always think we’re going to win our games, but there is a lot at stake for all teams right now and Valencia gave a good performance,” Arbeloa said.

“We’re aware of how many games we have to play in the season. We would have settled for having a four-point lead right now at the start of the campaign.

“We have to do our best to win every match, starting with the ones against Atletico Madrid and Sporting.

“We have to win on Wednesday, but Atletico are a strong side that’s changed a lot with (Diego) Simeone.”

It’s a huge game for Real Madrid. Derby’s are aways special, but Real are on a bit of a wobble at the moment and anything less than a win will just give Barcelona more belief that they can win the league this season.
